Grand Vision: Food & Farming Network

December 27th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

THE GRAND VISION Food & Farming Network visited the Central Lake School Garden last August.

Representatives from the Institute for Sustainable Living Art & Natural Design (ISLAND), Michigan State University Ext (MSUE), Michigan Land Use Institute (MLUI), and the Antrim County Conservation District offices visited the garden this summer as part of a Grand Vision Food & Farming tour. Central Lake is one of several area schools partnering with local organizations to facilitate garden spaces on school properties serving students and the community.

As part of a collaborative effort through ISLAND, these gardens are being established using the principles of permaculture in building soil, growing perennials, and connecting the garden space with the community.
